Spelling Bees

2010-2011 Spelling Bee Season -- I took part in my first spelling bee (in 2010) when I was six years old. This was the Jefferson Elementary School Spelling Bee....and I won this beating about 50 other kids who ranged in age from six to twelve. My winning word was 'Curmudgeon'.
With this victory, I qualified for the San Francisco Chronicle sponsored regional bee -- which is a qualifier for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. I was one of the 50 semi-finalists.
I was eliminated in the first round of the semi-finals when I spelled 'hominy' as 'homany; The picture to the left shows the pronouncer, Stan Bunger, adjusting the mike for me. He was such a gentleman.
My last spelling bee for the 2010-11 season was the finals of the North South Foundation's Junior Spelling Bee which was on September 3, 2011. I stood 64th out of 170 participants. I hope to improve my rank in the next year's JSB.
2010-2011 Spelling Bee Season -- I am working hard preparing for my school spelling bee. This will allow me to qualify for the San Francisco Chronicle spelling bee.
